Golf Star Gets Arrested Before Second Round
Scottie Scheffler, the world's number one golfer, was arrested by police after a traffic misunderstanding ahead of his second round at the 2024 PGA Championship.
Scheffler was booked into a Louisville jail Friday morning after being detained by police near the entrance of Valhalla Golf Club. The arrest came after a brief altercation with a police officer.
Scheffler was released from jail later Friday morning and apologized for his actions. He said he was "embarrassed" by the incident and that he was "cooperating fully with the authorities."
The arrest is a major blow to Scheffler's hopes of winning the PGA Championship. The 26-year-old American is the defending champion and was considered the favorite to win this year's tournament.
Despite the arrest, Scheffler is still scheduled to tee off in the second round of the PGA Championship on Friday afternoon. It remains to be seen how the arrest will affect his performance on the course.
